Chick-fil-A opened a delivery-focused kitchen in Miami with CloudKitchens on Tuesday, the company said in a press release.
This unit marks the chain’s first ghost kitchen in Florida, but its sixth overall across the U.S., Chick-fil-A said.
Chick-fil-A is the latest chain, following Pressed Juicery and Roti, to continue expansion using ghost kitchens. The strategy differs from other brands that have turned away from the establishments in recent years after opening them during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wonder, which has its own off-premise-centric food halls, has also been expanding rapidly across the country.
Chick-fil-A is no stranger to off-premise-only operations. It opened a delivery-only Little Blue Menu restaurant in College Park, Maryland, a few years ago after a trial of virtual concepts in Nashville, Tennessee. Chick-fil-A also opened a digital-pick-up only location in New York City in 2024.
At its Chick-fil-A Wynwood Delivery location in Miami, as well as its other delivery-centric outposts, the menu is focused on guest favorites that are primarily delivered through third-party platforms. While the Wynwood unit has a smaller breakfast menu, it will serve its Chick-N-Minis all day long, according to the press release.
Chick-fil-A has steadily grown its unit count during the past three years, opening 179 units in 2025 compared to 132 net new units in 2024 and 141 in 2023, according to the chain’s franchise disclosure document.
By the end of 2025, Chick-fil-A had 2,863 units, an increase of about 10.9% compared to 2023. It also has more than 400 licensed restaurants that are typically located in non-traditional locations.
