Wild Eggs, the scratch-kitchen breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant, opens its first central Ohio location at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at 5912 Old Hamilton Road in The Commons at Hamilton Quarter. The 3,800-square-foot restaurant sits where Gahanna, New Albany and Westerville meet. It’s the brand’s 20th restaurant and its third in Ohio, joining two in Cincinnati.
“We couldn’t be happier to call Columbus home, and we’ve been dreaming about this opening for a long time,” said Elle Morgan, Chief Marketing Officer of Wild Eggs. “Community is what made Wild Eggs who we are today. You see it in the guests who come back week after week. Of course, it helps to have the award-winning Kelsey’s KY Brown, our take on Kentucky’s famous Hot Brown, and the cinnamon roll that comes to the table warm in its own cast iron skillet. But, more than that, it’s the way our team makes them feel when they’re here. When food goes beyond filling you up and actually makes you feel at home, you know you’ve nailed it. We can’t wait to bring that feeling to Buckeye country.”
Opening week
- Saturday, Nov. 14, 7 a.m.: Doors open.
- Monday, Nov. 16, 9 a.m.: Ribbon cutting with the Columbus Chamber, Wild Eggs leadership and the Columbus opening team.
- Saturday, Nov. 14, through Saturday, Nov. 21: Wild Eggs donates $1 from every cast iron cinnamon roll sold to Mid-Ohio Food Collective, the food bank serving 20 Ohio counties. "The cinnamon roll purchases will be a sweet deal for our mission in meeting the needs of hungry individuals in Central Ohio," said Craig Truax, Director of Corporate Partnerships for the Mid-Ohio Food Collective.
Cooked to order, from the first crack
Everything at Wild Eggs is cooked to order. The hollandaise goes on the stove before the first guest arrives, and the orange juice is squeezed in house. The Loco Hash piles crispy carnitas, queso and jalapeños on skillet potatoes and finishes it with two eggs.
Kalamity Katie’s Border Benedict stacks chorizo and two poached eggs on green chili cheddar corn cakes, then finishes them with queso fundido, pico de gallo and avocado. Other favorites include Potato Head Casserole and Mexico City Chilaquiles. Gluten-friendly options are marked on the menu.
As one reviewer put it, it’s “a delicious breakfast in a place that makes you feel like you’ve been a regular for years.”
Columbus opens during the final stretch of “Spice Spice Baby,” the fall menu available through Nov. 24. Fall favorites on the opening menu include Pumpkin Pie Pancakes, the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, Sunrise Tostadas and the Wild Pumpkin Latte.
Wild Eggs Columbus employs more than 50 team members and is hiring for front- and back-of-house roles.
Anyone who joins Wild Eggs Rewards during opening week will score double rewards points. New members who sign up at Wild Eggs Columbus from Saturday, Nov. 14, through Saturday, Nov. 21, get 50 bonus points just for signing up, and Wild Eggs will match every point they earn there that week. The matching bonus points are added to members’ accounts by Wednesday, Nov. 25.
