Archatrak Inc, a national supplier of porcelain pavers, Ipe wood tiles, deck supports and site amenities, has recently broadened its range to include modular deck kits for outdoor seating and dining on pavements or along roadsides. ’StreetDeck’ self-contained platforms can be built over any sloping or uneven surface to create perfectly level decks. Integrated steel planters and railings enclose the deck on three sides, and flat ramps connect the deck to the pavement.
“Each kit includes all necessary fittings, brackets and bolts for quick and easy, do-it-yourself assembly,” says Malcolm Kay, CEO of Archatrak. “They can literally be put together in half a day, without all the expense and hassle of specialized labor or architectural fees. With two decades of experience in the decking industry, we used our knowledge to create a product we hope can help restore active outdoor life in communities affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.”
Archatrak originally designed the ‘StreetDeck’ kit to be an affordable Parklet, a compact street seating unit installed along urban shopping strips, which could be easily assembled and then disassembled for the winter months if required. Initially, the range consisted of two standard size decks to take the place of either 1 car space (12′ x 6′) or 2 car spaces (32′ x 6’) of roadway parking.
Due to the modularity of the design, ‘StreetDeck’ kits can be supplied in different widths or extended continuously to any length. Deck kits permit extensive customization even with the integrated planters and railings. Alternatively, the basic deck can simply be supplied as a totally independent unit without planters or railings, ready for installation with 3rd party components.
With the full ‘StreetDeck’ kits, fence panels or railings are bolted to steel planters to form a continuous safety barrier along three sides of the deck. Panels can be powder-coated steel, including laser cut designs with logos, pattern and text, powder-coated aluminum railings or stainless-steel wire railings.
“The parklet kits are configured to suit the available space, site conditions and specific requirements of a given area,” continues Kay. “You then bring your creativity into play when you choose your powder-coating color, railing options and porcelain paver options. In fact, we have over seventy ¾” thick, 24” x 24” porcelain paver options to choose from, plus an Ipe wood tile if you prefer a natural wood look.”
So if you are seeking a compact, self-contained seating or dining area that’s quick and easy to build and looks great, ‘StreetDeck’ can be a good place to start.
