Name: Lloyd Paul Marshall
New title: Chief growth officer, Texas Roadhouse
Previous title: Vice president of operations, Bubba’s 33
Texas Roadhouse’s board of directors promoted Marshall, who has over three decades of restaurant experience, to the new position on Aug. 14, according to a document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He originally joined the company in 1997 as managing partner in Killeen, Texas. He was promoted to market partner in 2003 and was then named vice president of operations at Bubba’s 33 in 2021.
In his new role, Marshall will work with CEO Jerry Morgan and oversee construction, design, real estate, development and facilities functions, per the filing. He will continue to oversee the Bubba's 33 concept.
Texas Roadhouse, which has been one of the best-performing casual dining brands for the past few quarters, posted comparable restaurant sales growth of 5.8%, according to an earnings release. Store development, however, has been slower than sales growth, but still steady across the Texas Roadhouse, Jaggers and Bubba’s 33 concepts. During the second quarter, the company opened four units and one franchised location.
Company restaurants reached 695 during the quarter across all three of its brands, an increase of 45 restaurants year over year, though that leap was driven in part by the company’s acquisition of franchised restaurants in recent quarters. The addition of a chief growth officer could indicate an additional focus on company-owned growth in the quarters ahead.
