Texas Roadhouse CFO Chris Monroe has left the company, effective June 9, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The separation is described as a termination without “cause” and is not a result of any disagreement with Texas Roadhouse related to “operations, policies, practices, or otherwise related to the Company’s operational performance or financial condition,” the filing said.
Monroe has been with the company since June 28, 2023, succeeding Tonya Robinson, who retired. He previously worked at Southwest Airlines. A press release indicates that Monroe will return to the state of Texas, where he lived for a bulk of his career at Southwest.
Kentucky-based Texas Roadhouse named Keith Humpich, vice president of finance, as interim CFO until a permanent successor has been named, according to a press release. The board of directors has engaged with an executive search firm to help find a replacement.
Humpich previously served as interim CFO from January 2023 to June 2023 when the board was searching for Robinson’s replacement. He has more than 30 years of experience in accounting, audit and finance, per the release.
Humpich has worked at Texas Roadhouse since February 2005 as senior director of internal audit. He was promoted to his current post in 2021 where he oversees financial reporting, tax, treasury, internal audit and financial analysis. In January 2023, he gained the additional role of principal accounting officer where he oversees accounting functions.
Texas Roadhouse continues to outperform the casual dining industry, which largely saw declines in same-store sales during the first quarter. The chain posted comparable sales growth of 3.5% at its company restaurants and opened eight units. It's also investing to expand its development pipeline, maintain existing restaurants and acquire franchised restaurants, CEO Jerry Morgan said in an earnings release.
